The Bird Hunting Report: Kentucky’s Wild Wing Lodge

Nestled in the gently rolling hills of northwestern Kentucky’s Crittenden County, not far from the Ohio River and the border with southeastern Illinois, Wild Wing Lodge and Kennel offers outstanding bobwhite quail hunting in a delightfully rural setting. With a total of 8,500 acres comprising the operation’s property, approximately 5,000 acres are under whitetail management while another approximate 3,500 are under an ongoing quail habitat management program.

Lodge owner, guide and professional dog trainer Tracey Lieske has over 20 years experience in this and other well renowned wing shooting destinations in the United States. His knowledge of dog handling, bobwhite quail and their habitat needs is highly extensive.

Wild Wing Lodge was established in 2001 by Mr. Ronnie Rich who had for many years been a Game Warden with Kentucky Fish and Game Dept. His lifelong dream was to establish an operation that could offer wing shooters quail hunting the way it used to be. His dream was fulfilled, but Rich passed away suddenly and unexpectedly of a heart attack in December 2011. However, this dream lives on.

The actual property on which Wild Wing Lodge and Kennels is located is owned by Dr. Marty Smith of Drs. Foster and Smith pet supplies company. Dr. Smith is a passionate outdoors-man who shared Ronnie Rich’s aspirations and the dream lives on. Read the full article by John C. Gosselin here.
